چکیده

Received ; accepted – 2 – ABSTRACT Among 330 normal spirals of types Sa-Sc the fraction of objects exhibiting " ring " , " intermediate " and " spiral " arm varieties does not correlated with environment. A similar conclusion appears to apply to the arm varieties of 123 barred spirals of types SBa-SBc. It is concluded that, among the northern Shapley-Ames galaxies, the distinction between the spiral and ring varieties of spiral arms is, within the accuracy of presently available data, independent of galaxy environment. This result suggests that the detailed morphology of spiral arms depends primarily on parent galaxy characteristics, rather than on the galactic environment .

ساخت و تحلیل فهرست ستارهای از کهکشان M33

In this study, 1200 images and catalogues of M33 spiral galaxy taken by WFCAM camera at UKIRT telescope in J, H and K bands. Cross correlation methods were employed to identify stars in overlapping regions from among images taken in different dates. Careful astrometric and photometric analysis was made to calibrate stellar positions and magnitudes using their 2MASS near infra red survey. The fi...

We produce a detailed map of the perturbed surface density of neutral hydrogen in the outer Milky Way disk demonstrating that the Galaxy is a nonaxisymmetric multi-armed spiral. Spiral structure in the southern half of the Galaxy can be traced out to at least 25 kpc, implying a minimum radius for the gas disk. Overdensities in the surface density are coincident with regions of reduced gas thick...

We determined ages for 52 star clusters with masses ≤ 10 M⊙ in the low surface brightness spiral galaxy NGC 45. Four of these candidates are old globular clusters located in the bulge. The remaining ones span a large age range. The cluster ages suggest a continuous star/cluster formation history without evidence for bursts, consistent with the galaxy being located in a relatively unperturbed en...

We recently reported the discovery of a regular corrugation pattern in the H i disk of the isolated, edge-on spiral galaxy IC 2233. Here we present measurements of the vertical structure of this galaxy at several additional wavelengths, ranging from the far ultraviolet to the far infrared. We find that undular patterns with amplitude <∼5 ′′ ( <∼250 pc) are visible in a variety of Population i t...

A scalar potential model (SPM) was developed from considerations of galaxy clusters and of redshift. The SPM is applied to H i rotation curves (RCs) and RC asymmetry of spiral galaxies. The resulting model adds the force of a scalar potential of the host galaxy and of neighboring galaxies to the Newtonian rotation velocity equation. The RC is partitioned radially into regions. The form of the e...
